Microsoft öffnet SkyDrive APIs für Docs und Photos und ermöglicht Cloud-fähige Apps für Windows 8

Nachdem Microsoft vor ein paar Monaten für die Live Connect APIs ein neues Live SDK veröffentlicht hat, reagiert das Unternehmen nun auf Wünsche von Entwicklern, für einen besseren Zugriff auf SkyDrive zu sorgen. Das schreibt das Team auf dem eigenen Blog. In erster Linie geht es darum, dass Anwendungen vollständig auf Dokumente, Photos und Videos im SkyDrive Cloud Storage zugreifen dürfen und weitere hochladen bzw. diese teilen können.

Mit der Integration von Windows Phone und Windows 8 sieht Microsoft SkyDrive als das Schlüsselelement, um Geräte übergreifend zu arbeiten. Darüber hinaus arbeitet SkyDrive eng mit Anwendungen wie Microsoft Office und OneNote zusammen, was das gemeinsame Arbeiten an unterschiedlichen Orten ermöglicht. Das Windows Team sieht insbesondere dann einen Mehrwert für die Nutzer, wenn eine Vielzahl von Endgeräten auf die Cloud Services von Microsoft zugreifen können. Das gilt ebenfalls für Geräte und Plattformen die nicht von Microsoft entwickelt wurden.

Mit den Änderungen und dem Öffnen der API ist nun jede(s) nicht Microsoft Anwendung, Plattform oder Endgerät in der Lage anhand einer Windows Live ID auf die Microsoft Cloud Services zuzugreifen.
