Eucalyptus Cloud unterstützt das CloudCamp Frankfurt 2012 als Silver Sponsor
Nach T-Systems und IBM, hat das CloudCamp Frankfurt am 24. Mai 2012 mit Eucalyptus Systems seinen dritten Sponsor gefunden.
Der Cloud Infrastruktur Software Anbieter Eucalyptus Systems wird die Veranstaltung mit einem Silver Sponsorship unterstützen und ebenfalls einen Lightning Talk präsentieren.
Amazon Web Services Clone auf Basis der Eucalyptus Cloud
Eucalyptus (Elastic Utility Computing Architecture for Linking Your Programs To Useful Systems) wurde als Forschungsprojekt am Computer Science Department an der University of California in Santa Barbara entwickelt und später in die Eucalyptus Systems Inc. überführt. Die Cloud Infrastruktur Software dient dem Aufbau von skalierbaren Cloud Computing Umgebungen oder Clustersystemen.
Eucalyptus orientiert sich dabei sehr stark an den grundlegenden Funktionen der Amazon Web Services (z.B. EC2, S3) und kann im Prinzip als AWS Clone für die eigene Cloud bezeichnet werden. Eucalyptus ist zu 100% kompatible mit den Schnittstellen zu Amazon EC2 und S3 (SOAP und REST) und unterstützt eine Vielzahl an Virtualisierungstechnologien, darunter Xen und KVM.
Erst kürzlich wurde Eucalyptus wieder stark in den Cloud Medien diskutiert, als das Unternehmen die exklusive Kooperation mit den Amazon Web Services bekannt gab.
Hintergrund der Kooperation ist die bessere Unterstützung der Eucalyptus Software für die Amazon Web Services, um die Datenmigration zwischen der Amazon Cloud und einer Private Cloud auf Basis von Eucalyptus zu optimieren. Dazu werden sich Entwickler aus beiden Unternehmen zukünftig intensiver austauschen und Amazon Eucalyptus mit weiteren Informationen versorgen, um die Kompatibilität mit den AWS APIs zu verbessern.

Das Leitthema des diesjährigen CloudCamp Frankfurt lautet “Cloud Computing zwischen Social Business, Mobile Enterprise und Big Data” und beschreibt einen der wichtigsten Trends für 2012.
Das CloudCamp findet am Donnerstag, 24.05.2012 in der Brotfabrik Hausen, Bachmannstr. 2-4, D-60488 Frankfurt am Main statt. Einlass ist ab 17:00 Uhr.
